This Privacy Policy explains how [Your Company] (“Fridgely,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Fridgely mobile app and related services (the “Service”).

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and name when you create an account or sign in with Apple or Google, and a unique account identifier.
• Content you create — recipes, posts, reviews, comments, collections, shopping lists, meal plans, and any photos you upload.
• Health & fitness details (optional) — if you use nutrition features, information such as weight, height, age, activity level, and goals you choose to enter, used only to calculate your targets.
• Guest accounts — if you use Fridgely without signing in, we create an account for you tied to a random identifier on your device (we keep only a one-way hash of it), so your pantry, plans and lists work. You can turn it into a full account later, or delete it.
• Pantry & cooking activity — what is in your pantry (with expiry dates we estimate from the kind of food, or that you set), meals you mark as cooked, ratings, food-diary entries, and your meal plans and shopping lists.
• Photos you scan — photos of your fridge, groceries or receipts are sent to our AI provider to find ingredients. We do not keep the photo; we keep the list of ingredients found. If you reach your free scan limit, we hold the one list from your latest scan for up to 14 days so it is not lost if you upgrade.
• Meal photos — if you add a photo of your plate, it is stored with that meal and shown publicly only if you choose to post it.
• Setup answers — goals, diets, allergies, household size and foods you dislike, used to filter and rank recipes.
• Usage analytics — first-party events such as “scanned a fridge” or “opened a recipe”, linked to your account’s random ID and to a random identifier on your device. They contain no name, email, photos or ingredient lists, and we use no third-party analytics service. You can turn this off under Settings › Privacy. Events are deleted after about 13 months.
• Purchase information — we verify the signed transaction Apple gives the app (product, dates, trial status). We never see your payment details.
• Invites — if you invite a friend or join with an invite code, we record the link between the two accounts so both of you get the reward.
• Diagnostic data — basic diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the Service.

We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

How we use information

• To provide and personalize the Service (saving recipes, planning meals, building shopping lists, social features).
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To generate optional AI-assisted suggestions you request (e.g., fridge scans, meal plans, recipe personalization).
• To plan the reminders you turn on (a dinner idea, food about to expire, a weekly recap). Reminders are scheduled on your device, at most one a day and never during the quiet hours you set.
• To understand which parts of the app work, using the analytics described above.
• To respond to support requests and enforce our Terms.

How information is shared

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements that limit their use of it:

• Apple and Google — sign-in, and (Apple) purchases and subscriptions.
• MongoDB Atlas — database hosting.
• Cloudflare R2 — image storage.
• Railway — application hosting.
• Resend — sending sign-in emails.
• OpenRouter — processing AI feature requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Your choices and rights

• Delete your account — in the app under Settings › Delete account. This removes your account and associated personal content.
• Access, correct, or export — contact us at [contact email] and, where required by law, we will help you access or export your data.
• Block & report — you can block other users and report objectionable content from within the app.

Data retention

Usage events are deleted after about 13 months. We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

Children

Fridgely is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
